An Express Entry linked nomination from British Columbia adds 600 points to your Comprehensive Ranking System score, which in practice guarantees an invitation to apply in a general round. Base streams that sit outside Express Entry do not add CRS points; they lead to a paper based permanent residence application instead.

British Columbia is the most competitive province in the country, and almost everything in it runs through an employer. You register, you get a score, and BC invites from the top down in periodic draws — so an offer alone is not enough, it has to be an offer that scores.

BC closed its Entry Level and Semi-Skilled category in April 2026 and now leans hard toward healthcare and skilled trades. If you are in one of those, the province is far more accessible than its reputation suggests. If you are in general business or admin work in Metro Vancouver, expect to be outranked.

The Health Authority stream is the single fastest route in the province: an offer from one of BC's public health authorities, and you skip most of the competition. It applies well beyond doctors and nurses — care aides, technologists and support roles count.

International Graduate is the route for anyone who finished a Canadian degree in the last three years, but it still needs a BC job offer on top of the credential.
